Cindy’s is a 3-day old female, born at 26 weeks GA via vaginal delivery due to preterm labor. Her mother’s serology is negative and she received one dose of antenatal steroids. Cindy received exogenous surfactant therapy and is currently on moderate support of conventional ventilation, on trophic feeds of donor breast milk, and on Caffeine. The Lab informs you that the gram stain from a blood cultures sent at birth are suggestive of gram neg rods, and the nurse is concerned that Cindy’s last mean BP is 24, below her GA. You started antibiotics and reviewing BP management options.
